About the artist
Ian Tevo is a Peruvian visual artist with years of experience in the press. He currently developes artistic projects as part of a personal need where he expresses a side of his personality with an anthropological point of view, which questions certain aspects of the relationship of men with masculinity and eroticism with transgression and feelings.
He is studying Visual Project Management and Photography at the Centro de la Imagen, Lima. In 2019, he participated in the Documentary Filmmaking Workshop at the International School of Film and TV, San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba. He has also participated in the Documentary Photography Workshop with Victor Blue and Kirsten Luce in Antigua, Guatemala (2014) and in the Documentary Essay Workshop with Michael Robinson Chavez, a Los Angeles Times photographer (2013). Between 2008 and 2011 he studied to become a Professional Technician in Photography at the Centro de la Imagen, Lima.
His first solo show entitled Mercenario I (2021) was presented at Espacio Laboratorio gallery in Lima and he has participated in several group exhibitions. Some awards and distinctions include being selected artist for Der Greif N° 12, Edited by Broomberg & Chanarin (2019); honorable mention at the 5th National Photography Salon of ICPNA, Lima (2017); nominated for Masterclass World Press Photo (2015); Fellow at Foundry Photojournalism, Guatemala (2014), among others.
Ian is also developing his first feature film, titled "The European Dream", which narrates the migration to the Old Continent of Latin American LGTB sex workers. This project was a finalist for the Pulitzer Center Travel Grant Persephone Miel in 2017 and 2018.

Ian Tevo es un artista visual peruano con años de experiencia en prensa.
Actualmente desarrolla proyectos artísticos como parte de una necesidad personal donde expresa un lado de su personalidad con un punto de vista antropológico, que cuestiona determinados aspectos de la relación del hombre con la masculinidad y del erotismo con la transgresión y los sentimientos.
Cursa estudios de dirección de proyectos visuales y fotografía en el Centro de la Imagen, Lima. En 2019 participó del taller de realización documental
en la Escuela Internacional de Cine y TV, San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba. También ha participado del taller de fotografía documental con Víctor Blue y Kirsten Luce en Antigua, Guatemala (2014) y en el taller de ensayo documental con Michael Robinson Chávez, fotógrafo de Los Angeles Times (2013). Entre 2008 y 2011 cursó la carrera de técnico profesional en fotografía en el Centro de la Imagen, Lima.
Su primera exposición individual titulada Mercenario I (2021) se presentó en la galería Espacio Laboratorio de Lima, Tevo ha participado de diversas exposiciones colectivas. Entre los premios y distinciones destacan el haber sido artista seleccionado para Der Greif N° 12, editado por Broomberg & Chanarin (2019); mención honrosa en el 5to Salón Nacional de la Fotografía del ICPNA, Lima (2017); nominado para Masterclass World Press Photo (2015); becario en Foundry Photojournalism, Guatemala (2014), entre otros.
Ian además viene desarrollando su primer largometraje, titulado “El sueño europeo” que narra la migración hacia el Viejo Continente de latinoamericanos LGTB que ejercen la prostitución. Este proyecto quedó finalista del Pulitzer Center Travel Grant Persephone Miel en 2017 y 2018.
