In his work, Esteban Igartua approaches drawing with an admirable meticulousness capturing both the grotesque and the ridiculous present in organic life and social interactions.
In the context of his exhibition at Proyecto AMIL, and in conversation with artist Gabriel Acevedo, Igartua has designed a series of instructions that explain step by step his methodology when drawing, therefore providing us access to his creative process.
During the workshop participants will be invited to choose between photographs of natural landscapes and organic elements specially selected by the artist for the occasion. The idea is to assume drawing as an activity instead of a product, a space for experimentation, conjecture and fantasy.
The workshop will be directed by Gabriel Acevedo and will take place from 4pm to 6pm in Proyecto AMIL. Those interested in the subject are welcome to join. No previous knowledge or expertise in drawing is needed. Admission is free and materials are included.

About the Artists
Esteban Igartua (Lima, 1974) lives and works in Bristol. He has a bachelor's degree in fine arts from the Catholic University of Peru and post-graduate degree from the Slade School of Arts and Byam Shaw in London. Recent exhibitions include: Excursion, Garua (Lima, 2015); Campo Ocupado, Revolver Gallery (Lima, 2012); The Culture Clash, Working Rooms (London, 2008); Prophet, Spike Island (Bristol, 2008); among many others. His work has been featured in catalogues such as the Bloomberg New Contemporaries (2003) and more recently in 77 artistas contemporaneos peruanos (2017), published by the Museo Mario Testino-MATE.
Gabriel Acevedo Velarde (Lima, 1976) After spending different periods in Mexico City, Sao Paulo, New York and Berlin, he is currently based in Lima. His most recent individual exhibitions include: Paranormal Citizen at Reina Sofía Museum (Madrid, 2013), Interruptions on decrees and stages at Mori Museum (Tokyo, 2014), Quorum Power at Museo Carrillo Gil (Mexico City, 2009), Cone Flow at Modern Art Museum at Fort Worth (Texas, 2010). He has participated in the following group exhibitions: Lyon Biennial (2011), Sao Paulo Biennial (2010), Corruption - Everybody Knows (e-flux NY, 2015), among others.

En su trabajo, Esteban Igartua se aproxima al dibujo con una meticulosidad admirable capturando tanto lo grotesco como lo ridículo presente en la vida orgánica y las interacciones sociales.
En el contexto de su exposición en Proyecto AMIL, y en conversación con el artista Gabriel Acevedo, Igartua ha diseñado una serie de instrucciones que nos explican paso a paso su metodología al dibujar y, por tanto, nos proveen un acceso su proceso creativo.
Durante el taller los participantes serán invitados a escoger entre fotografías de paisajes naturales y elementos orgánicos especialmente seleccionados por el artista para la ocasión. La idea es asumir el dibujo como una actividad en lugar de un producto, un espacio para la experimentación, la conjetura y la fantasía.
El taller será dirigido por Gabriel Acevedo y se llevará a cabo de 4pm a 6pm en Proyecto AMIL. Interesados en el tema son bienvenidos a unirse independientemente de su nivel de conocimiento sobre técnicas de dibujo. El ingreso es gratuito y los materiales están incluidos.

Acerca de los artistas
Esteban Igartua (Lima, 1974) vive y trabaja en Bristol.
