Proyecto AMIL is pleased to announce its participation in the fourth edition of the Festival of Cultura Libre (FCL) with the screening of Horror Vacui, by David Zink Yi, which will be accompanied by the comments of curator Florencia Portocarrero.
Filmed in Havana between 2005 and 2006, Horror Vacui represents the result of an on-going research on the grammar and polyrhythm of the Afro-Cuban musical tradition that traverses Zink Yi's practice. With a length of two hours and seventeen minutes and in two channels, Horror Vacui documents the rehearsals of De adentro y afuera, latin band that the artist co-founded, combining them with images of religious rituals that are deeply rooted in Cuban culture. By juxtaposing the band rehearsals and ritual practices as equivalent elements, Zink Yi allows fascinating parallels between the secular and religious space to emerge.
Organized by the Municipality of San Isidro, the FCL is the only contemporary international music festival in Lima that is completely free and open to the public.

Proyecto AMIL se complace en anunciar su participación en la cuarta edición del Festival de Cultura Libre (FCL) con la proyección de Horror Vacui, de David Zink Yi, que será acompañada de los comentarios de la curadora Florencia Portocarrero.
Filmado en La Habana entre el 2005 y el 2006, Horror Vacui representa el resultado de una investigación que atraviesa la práctica de Zink Yi en torno a la gramática y la polirritmia de la tradición musical afrocubana. Con una duración de dos horas y diecisiete minutos y en dos canales, la pieza documenta los ensayos de De adentro y afuera, banda latina que el mismo artista co-fundó, combinándolos con imágenes de rituales religiosos muy arraigados en la cultura cubana. Al yuxtaponer los ensayos de la banda y las prácticas rituales como elementos equivalentes, Zink Yi permite que emerjan fascinantes paralelos entre el espacio secular y el religioso.
Organizado por la Municipalidad de San Isidro, el FCL es el único festival musical internacional contemporáneo en Lima completamente gratuito y abierto al público.
