7:00 pm: Protocinema presentation by Mari Spirito
Mari Spirito (United States) is Founding Director and Curator of Protocinema, realizing site-aware exhibitions in the world, since 2011. Spirito has programmed Art Basel Conversations since 2014 and is an Associate Curator of Visual Arts at the Onassis Cultural Center in New York and Athens. She launched Alt Art Space, Istanbul, and was its Curator and Director from 2015 to 2017; served as an advisor to the 2nd Mardin Biennial, Turkey, 2012; and was Director of 303 Gallery New York, 2000–2012. She is President of the Board of Participant Inc, New York and holds a BFA from Massachusetts College of Art, Boston.
8:00 pm: Artist talk by Ghaith Mofeed
Ghaith Mofeed (Syria, 1995) lives and works in Istanbul, Turkey. During his talk the artist will introduce The Journey of a Cell, from The Black Sea to The Sea of Reality, project which documents the historical and geographical voyages of his ancestral heritage; as well as talk about other works in-progress. In 2015 Mofeed had a solo show titled The Value of a Cell at Protocinema’s Emerging Curator and Artist Series at 5533, Istanbul; and in 2017 participated in a residency at Delfina Foundation in London. He has worked as a Production Assistant at Alt Art Space (2015-2017) and Protocinema (2014-present).

Protocinema is an itinerant art organization realizing site-aware exhibitions in different places in the world. Free of 'brick and mortar', sites vary to respond both to global concerns and changing conditions on the ground.

Mari Spirito (Estados Unidos) es fundadora, directora y curadora de Protocinema, realizando exposiciones en todo el mundo desde 2011. Spirito organiza el Programa de Conversaciones de Art Basel desde el 2014 y es curadora asociada de artes visuales en el Centro Cultural Onassis en Nueva York y Atenas. Fundó Alt Art Space en Estambul, y fue su curadora y directora entre el 2015 y el 2017; se desempeñó como asesora de la 2ª Bienal de Mardin en Turquía en el 2012; y fue directora de 303 Gallery New York entre el 2000 y el 2012. Es presidenta de la junta de Participant Inc en Nueva York y tiene una Licenciatura en Bellas Artes del Massachusetts College of Art de Boston.
