In the context of - al Cielo de Noche de Lima / to The Night Sky of Lima - the two-part exhibition by the American artist Richard Tuttle; Proyecto AMIL and Museo de Arte de Lima – MALI, invite you to participate in a series of workshops that take the Lima sky as their starting point. The workshops will be directed by the artists Sandra Nakamura (November 26th), Nancy La Rosa (December 17th) and Gilda Mantilla & Raimond Chaves (January 14th).
In response to the exhibition, each workshop consists of an experimentation with various creative tools to record the ideas, thoughts and feelings that are generated from a renewed curiosity with our sky, and how this intersects with the minimalist and subtle work of Richard Tuttle.
The second workshop takes place on Saturday 17th of December and is led by the artist Nancy La Rosa, who proposes an exercise of creation and synthesis departing from the observation and memories of the clouds in the sky of Lima, to generate templates that later will be used to produce screenprints. In Lima, clouds hide the sky for most of the year. However, with December comes a change in the seasons and the cloud cover that looms over the city like a dense blanket begins to clear, giving the possibility of observing individual clouds and a deeper sky.
The workshop will be held between 3:30 pm and 6pm in Proyecto AMIL. Teenagers and adults are welcome to join. No previous knowledge or expertise in art making is needed.
Admission is free and materials are included.
About the artist:
Nancy La Rosa (Lima 1980) graduated in Fine Arts, with a mention in print making, at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP). Her work –in different mediums- has been exhibited in individual shows in Lima and in collective exhibitions in Medellín and Bogotá, Colombia; Santa Cruz, Bolivia; Madrid Spain; Austin, USA and Caracas, Venezuela. She has participated in residencies and site specific projects such as: Hawapi 2015, KM0 KM0 in 2014 and LARA (Latin American Roaming Art) in 2013. Currently she is a candidate for the Visual Anthropology Master Program at the PUCP.

En el contexto de al Cielo de Noche de Lima / to The Night Sky of Lima, la exposición en dos partes del artista estadounidense Richard Tuttle, el Museo de Arte de Lima y Proyecto AMIL, invitan al público interesado a participar de una serie de talleres que toman como punto de partida el cielo de nuestra ciudad. Los talleres estarán dirigidos por los artistas Sandra Nakamura (26 de Noviembre), Nancy La Rosa (17 de Diciembre) y Gilda Mantilla & Raimond Chaves (14 de Enero).
Diseñados en diálogo con la exposición, en cada taller se experimentará con diversas herramientas creativas para registrar las ideas, pensamientos y sensaciones que se generan a partir de una mirada curiosa y renovada a nuestro cielo, así como sus puntos de intersección con la obra minimalista y sutil de Richard Tuttle.
El segundo taller tendrá lugar el sábado 17 de Diciembre y estará a cargo de la artista Nancy La Rosa, quien plantea hacer un ejercicio de creación y síntesis a partir de la observación y el recuerdo de las nubes del cielo de Lima, generando plantillas que luego serán utilizadas para producir serigrafías. En Lima, las nubes ocultan el cielo durante la mayor parte del año. Sin embargo, durante el cambio de estación en el mes de Diciembre, la estructura de nubes que se posa sobre la ciudad como una manta densa se despeja y da la posibilidad de observar nubes individuales y un cielo más profundo.
El taller se llevará a cabo de 3:30pm a 6pm en Proyecto AMIL. Jóvenes y adultos son bienvenidos a unirse independientemente de su nivel de conocimiento sobre técnicas artísticas.
El ingreso es gratuito y los materiales están incluidos.
Sobre la artista:
Nancy La Rosa (Lima 1980) es graduada en grabado por la Facultad de Arte de la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP). Su trabajo en diversos medios ha sido expuesto en muestras individuales en Lima y en exposiciones colectivas en Medellín y Bogotá, Colombia; Santa Cruz, Bolivia; Madrid, España; Austin, EEUU y Caracas, Venezuela. Ha participado en las residencias y proyectos site - specific como: Hawapi 2015, Kiosko KM0 en 2014 y LARA (Latin American Roaming Art) en 2013. Actualmente es candidata en el programa de Maestría en Antropología Visual de la PUCP.
